The seasonal calendar: filling your year in the Swedish home service market

Which services are in demand when in Sweden, and how to plan campaigns so you avoid dead weeks in February and July.

The seasonal calendar: filling your year in the Swedish home service market

Demand for home services in Sweden is heavily seasonal. Plan three months ahead and your calendar stays full; plan reactively and you chase work in the quiet months.

Here is the year quarter by quarter, with what to promote when.

Demand by season

PeriodHigh demandPromote ahead of time
Jan to MarElectrical, plumbing, interior painting, deep cleaningSpring renovation
Apr to JunGardening, pressure washing, facades, movingDecking and outdoor living
Jul to AugEmergency work, moving, small carpentryAutumn heat pump service
Sep to DecHeat pumps, roofing, insulation, move-out cleaningChristmas cleaning and winter prep

Stay three months ahead

For planned work, customers rarely book in the same week the need appears. Promote deck sanding in March, not June, and heat pump servicing in August, not November.

Send a short message to past customers before every season. Returning customers cost nothing to acquire and convert three to five times better than new ones.

Fill the quiet months

  • February: offer indoor work with a discounted call-out fee.
  • July: take emergency jobs at a premium while competitors are on holiday.
  • Any low period: book deferred maintenance with housing associations.
  • Year round: sign service agreements that produce fixed monthly income.

Use ROT and RUT as a seasonal argument

Many households still have unused deduction allowance late in the year. A reminder in October that the allowance resets on 31 December is one of the strongest sales arguments of the year.

See our guide to ROT and RUT invoicing to handle it correctly.

Frequently asked questions

Which month is weakest for Swedish trades?
February and July are consistently weakest for planned work across most trades.
Should I discount in low season?
Reduce the call-out fee or bundle services rather than cutting your hourly rate, which is hard to raise again.
Do service agreements work for small firms?
Yes. Even five to ten agreements provide a stable base income that covers fixed costs.
