How to calculate square metres
Wall area = (room perimeter) × ceiling height, minus doors and windows. Example: room 4×5 m, ceiling 2.5 m: (4+5+4+5) × 2.5 = 45 m², minus a door (1.6 m²) and 2 windows (3 m²) = 40 m².
Multiply by 140–200 SEK for 2 coats and you land at 5,600–8,000 SEK after ROT for the walls. Add the same for the ceiling if you're painting it too.
What can push the price up 20–50%
- Bad surface condition, filling, sanding and priming before painting.
- A darker new colour, may require 3 coats instead of 2.
- Ceiling height above 2.7 m, needs scaffolding or tall ladders.
- A lot of trim and mouldings, cornices, ceiling mouldings and skirting are billed separately.
- Protection, parquet floors and tiled bathrooms need careful masking.
