Swedish winters are beautiful but unforgiving. A well-prepared house loses less heat, suffers less moisture damage and needs fewer emergency repairs when it truly freezes.
This checklist follows the seasons, start in September and you'll be ready before the first snowfall.
September, sealing and ventilation
Check window seals. New rubber gaskets cost 20–50 SEK/metre and can save 10–15% on heating.
Clean vents and change filters in the FTX ventilation unit. A blocked filter uses up to 30% more electricity.
October, roof, gutters and downpipes
Clear gutters of leaves before they freeze in place. Check the roof for loose tiles or damage, it's your last chance before the snow.

November, heating systems
