Finding a babysitter in Sweden has changed dramatically, from asking the teenager next door to booking a vetted, background-checked sitter through a platform. Prices have shifted with that change, and 2026 brings yet another adjustment as inflation, demand and the RUT cap all reset.

Babysitter hourly rates in 2026

The Swedish average sits at 150–250 SEK/hour before the RUT deduction, depending on city, the sitter's age, and experience. In Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö, the average leans closer to 200–250 SEK.

What the RUT deduction covers
